RTW
This is a work in progress adventure motorcycling trip planning app. If you’re a rider who does long international trips, you know that the tools for planning a long trip leave a lot to be desired. Google maps will get you from place to place the most efficient way possible, but that’s not what you want. You want to go the slow way, see something, and make it back in time before your vacation ends.
The goal here is bring together all the sources of information together with your constraints so that you can plan a multi-day trip:
- Use adventure-focused routing with an emphasis on non-highway and off-road sections
- Provide the information you need to plan the trip, such as showing multi-day itineraries that allow you to place limits on speed and riding time per day
- Integrate more information such as weather throughout the year, elevation profiles, and road surface conditions to make informed decisions about where to ride
- Make it work snappily, able to plan trips with your riding buddies, and export to formats that work with your favorite navigation app or GPS. Make as much of it work in spotty mobile network conditions as possible.

Development
This repository uses Nix flake-based builds. To create a new release:
make release
Version strings are date based: YYYY-MM-ddHHmm
Updates to the Ygo dependency
Normal development occurs in a Go Work setup with the companion Y CRDT library git.kilimanjaro.io/ygo. To cut a new release after changes to ygo, run the Makefile target make update-ygo. When ygo changes, the vendorHash in flake.nix also changes. Manual intervention is required to update the hash in flake.nix. Follow the directions after make update-ygo to change the hash.
